Additional information

The Selous Game Reserve

The park is named after Captain Frederick Selous who was killed in action in January 1917 while scouting in the area. His grave is near Beho Beho. There are supposed to be over a million animals in the park, which is probably best known for its large numbers of elephant. Central to the park is the Great Rufiji River. Found in the north of the reserve at the junction of the Rufiji and Ruaha rivers, Stiegler's Gorge is a 40km, two hour drive from Matambwe. Beyond the gorge the river widens out again and splits to form a number of lakes – Tagalala, Manze, Nzerakera, Siwando and Mzizima..

Zanzibar Stone Town

The Stone Town of Zanzibar is a fine example of the Swahili coastal trading towns of East Africa. It retains its urban fabric and townscape virtually intact and contains many fine buildings that reflect its particular culture, which has brought together and homogenized disparate elements of the cultures of Africa, the Arab region, India, and Europe over more than a millennium
